How to Make Restaurant-Quality Spiced French Fries at Home

To enhance the final result, soak the potato strips in cold water for approximately 15 minutes. This step aids in removing excess starch, setting the stage for the ultimate crispiness.

We will be frying our potatoes twice (at two different temperatures) in order to get that restaurant quality perfection. Start with a temperature of around 225 degrees Fahrenheit. Carefully add the potato strips in batches, being mindful not to overcrowd the pan. Fry them for approximately 7-9 minutes. Remove potatoes from oil and place on a cooling rack or spread of paper towels. Next, heat the oil 360 degrees Fahrenheit and place the potatoes back in the oil for the second fry. Continue to fry the potatoes until they turn into a glorious golden brown, achieving that desired level of crispiness. Once done, remove the fries from the oil and let them rest on a paper towel-lined plate, allowing any excess oil to drain.

While the fries are still hot and sizzling, transfer them to a spacious mixing bowl. Sprinkle the desired spice blend over the fries, ensuring each strip is generously coated with the aromatic goodness.
